ABOUT

EXHALE THERAPY HAWAII

The goal of Exhale Therapy Hawaii is to provide professional and convenient online counseling services to individuals, couples and families in the state of Hawaii, because we believe everyone deserves access to these important services.

Sometimes life is just so busy and the hustle and bustle of daily life can be a lot to handle.  Adding a commute to attend your counseling sessions can make it an obstacle and take away time from work, family and much needed self care time.  We use a secure online portal for our video sessions.  Because it's all online we can reach people all over the state and you don't need to add time for travel.

We offer a wide range of session start times, with convenient before work hours (for the early birds), midday sessions and after work hours as well.  You can find the time for your mental health and positive well-being.

If you're unsure about starting therapy, schedule a free initial consultation (up to 30 minutes) and see if it's a good fit for you!

Life can sometimes be pretty hard... here's one thing that can make it easier!

Life's journey can be a tumultuous one with lots of highs and certainly some lows.  I believe that we all need support to navigate these twists and turns at some point along the way.  Whether it be a major life changing transition or simply just getting through the daily grind.  If we embark on this journey together, I would like to see myself as a collaborative partner with you helping to promote insight, growth, and change.  Let us explore not only the abstract "meaning of life" that we all seem to be continuously in search thereof, but also to find practical solutions that you can implement in your everyday living.

It takes vulnerability to participate in therapy, and finding the right fit in a therapist is a key ingredient to making it work. Developing a warm and trusting relationship is my first priority. I seek to provide a non-judgmental, client-centered environment to explore patterns and develop the skills needed to promote healing and self-growth. Natural resiliency will be tapped into by building self-compassion, self-awareness, and confidence using a strengths-based approach. I believe in the mind-body connection, and encourage well-rounded approaches to taking care of your overall well being.

Being a child of Hawaii, culturally-sensitive practice is important to me. We come from unique backgrounds, and all perspectives are valued. I received my higher education in California, gaining my post-graduate hours in San Diego before returning home to Hawaii. I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Hawaii. My clinical experience has been acquired in a variety of settings, including outpatient, day treatment, and school settings in both therapist and supervisory roles.

Life can sometimes feel so overwhelming, and it may feel like you've been carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. You try to accomplish so much but it doesn't go the way you expect it or sometimes it goes the opposite way. It can be hard to hold all that inside. Therapy can be a great place to release all of that anxiety, sadness and talk about those life stressors or unpredictable events.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have many years of experience in helping individuals cope with anxiety, stress, trauma and going through those tough life transitions that leave you feeling really down and low. I use a collaborative approach with those I work with. Together we will work towards meeting your own personal mental health goals through an integrative approach that best suits you. Research indicates that psychotherapy has been proven to have positive benefits for many individuals who utilize the service. Therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feelings of distress, increased satisfaction in interpersonal relationships, greater personal awareness and insight, increased skills for managing stress and resolutions to specific problems. I am here to meet you where you are at in your journey and to support you along your chosen path. In the end, I hope to leave you with a sense of hope and overall satisfaction and confidence.

I received my Master's Degree at Argosy University Hawaii in 2009 and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Hawaii in 2014. I'm a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.  My experience is broad as I have provided counseling services to our keiki from as young as age 3 through our kupuna in their more mature years.  I have over 13 years of work experience in the social services field, 9 years in the counseling field, and is one of only a few therapists in Hawaii to successfully complete the National Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Therapist Certification Program.

I enjoy helping individuals, couples and families with concerns related to:

  • Coping with life changes

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship issues

  • Family conflicts

  • Parenting issues

  • Infertility Issues

  • Trauma

  • Grief

  • Self-esteem

  • Career difficulties

  • Depressed mood

  • Compassion fatigue

  • Caregiver fatigue

  • ADHD

  • Autism

FUN FACTS: I admit I have a sweet tooth, I love to travel (when that was a thing!?) and I became an ordained reverend online (and also legally in the state of Hawaii) after a close friend asked me to marry them.

"I look forward to helping you along your journey!"
